Big Boy/Fleury Singler Finds a Tough Opponent in Marquette County CVB:

Big Boy/Fleury Singler came into Week 29 with a 46 – 38 record. And being 14 points behind the leaders with 3 weeks before roll-offs, Big Boy/Fleury Singler would also have to have some help. They would not only have to win every match, but the leaders would need to lose many of their matches. This week Big Boy/Fleury Singler was bowling against Marquette Country CVB, who always seems to bring a little extra the nights they bowl against BB/FS.

Due to a death in the family, Matt Rayome was unable to bowl this week. Big Boy/Fleury Singler again called on the services of Mike Kelly. Dave Stevenson (256) picked up right where he left of the week before. Keith Dickson (202) and Mike Kelly (193) also had great games, but Denise Gurnack (213), Bob Harrington (204), and Mike Black (190) had the answer as BB/FS lost Game One- 1171 – 1182. Dave Stevenson (236), Keith Dickson (202), and Steve Whelan (181) all bowled their averages in Game Two, but Bob Harrington (257), Mike Black (202), and the rest of the Marquette Co. CVB team again muscled their way past BB/FS- 1182 – 1241 Determined to get at least two pints, Dave Stevenson (207) and Steve Whelan (155) made the most of their games to take Game Three- 1137 – 1072. The big win in Game Three was not enough however to push BB/FS ahead for the overall match as they lost a tight one- 3490 – 3495.

With the two points, Big Boy/Fleury Singler improved their record to 48 – 43 with 2 weeks left to go before the positional round. And while BB/FS are nearly mathematically eliminated from three-peating as champions, they have every intention of finishing as strong as possible. Next week, BB/FS will take on DeMarse Insurance.
