Big Boy Takes 5 Points in Season Opener:
Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11:43PM Big Boy was short a bowler as the first week of the new season against Heritage Drive Apartments. Their new fifth bowler, Mike Kelly, had a prior commitment, and Todd Keough is still finishing his golf season. And with the league using their averages and handicap from last season for the first three weeks, Big Boy would have a tough time trying to make up their deficit in handicap (150 pins per game). Luckily, Heritage Drive was also short a bowler the first week.
Heritage Drive seemed to struggle to knock the rust off in Game One, and Big Boy took advantage. Keith Dickson (194), Dave Stevenson (192), Matt Rayome (171), and Steve Whelan (155) seemed to have very little rust as they got things started early en route to the 1147 – 1075 victory. In Game Two, Dickson got into a groove as he led Big Boy with a 252. Stevenson (203), Rayome (182), and Whelan (149) also chipped in for a big Game Two victory- 1221 – 1084. As the lanes began to dry out, Big Boy struggled to make the transition. Dickson (199) and Rayome (182) continued to stroke the ball well, but Justin True (179) led Heritage Drive to the Game Three victory- 1115 – 1151. Big Boy won the overall match 3483 – 3310 to take five points on the night.
