Big Boy Takes 7 Points as They Aim to Make a Run at First Place:
Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 9:14PM Entering Week 25 sitting in 6th place, the Big Boy bowling team knew they couldn’t wait any longer if they were going to make a run at winning the 2nd half. So it was somewhat fitting that the team Big Boy was bowling this week was the team that won the 1st half- Superior Collision.
Big Boy got things started early led by Matt Rayome’s 225 and Keith Dickson’s 219. And despite Vic Mahaffey’s 221, Denis Johnson’s 202, and Erik Vanlangendon’s 201, Big Boy won Game 1- 1169 – 1137. Big Boy kept things going in Game 2. Dave Stevenson (237), Steve Whelan (226), and Mike Kelly (225) led the team to a 1294 – 1132 victory. (The 1294 Big Boy bowled in Game 2 is a new league high for a team handicapped game.) Determined to take 7 points on the night to make up some ground on the leaders, Kelly (227) and Dickson (210) led the way to a victory in Game 3- 1171 – 1064. Big Boy also won the series- 3634 – 3333. By taking all 7 points, Big Boy should move up the ranks and a little closer to the leaders.
Next week Big Boy will try to continue to move up the leader board as they take on Duquaine’s. While Duquaine’s has struggled so far this half, they always seem to bring a little extra against Big Boy.
*On a side note, the 226-game Steve Whelan bowled in Game 2 and the 530-series he bowled were both career highs for him. Congratulations Steve…and continue to bring it!*
