Antonio Cromartie To The Lions?
Cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who has fallen out of favor in San Diego, has been on the trading block for a while.
And he apparently will soon be off the block -- because he apparently will soon be traded.
According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Cromartie "could be" a Lion in the near future. There are no details regarding the compensation that Chargers would receive.
Trades officially can be made as of the first day of the league year, which this year is March 5. But teams can loosely agree to terms before March 5, with the deal consummated at some point after the clock strikes 12.
As Acee points out, regardless of whether Cromartie becomes a Lion, Cromartie "has almost certainly" played his last game with San Diego.

According to John Niyo of the Detroit News, the Chargers offered Cromartie to the Lions for RB Maurice Morris and a 4th or 5th Round pick in this year's draft. The Lions, having concerns at the running back position with starting RB Kevin Smith having surgery on both his knee and shoulder this offseason, were refusing to include Morris in the trade. We'll continue to watch this since the Lions are looking to add another running back to the team via trade, free agency, or draft. Will they be more willing to give up Morris if they added another running back to the mix...possibly. Stay tuned.

Antonio Cromartie will not be suiting up in Honolulu Blue this year. It has been reported that Cromartie was traded to the New York Jets for their 2011 3rd Round pick. The pick could be upgraded to a 2nd Round pick depending on how Cromartie performs this year for the Jets. With only one year left on his contract, Cromartie needs to put together a good season to answer the questions about his game. Just a couple years ago, no one would have expected the Chargers to be willing to trade Cromartie (he led the league in interceptions in 2007 with 10). And having the best cover cornerback in the league opposite him, Cromartie should have many opportunities to get back to his 2007 form.
